I was born in Tel Aviv, Pesach, 1944.  At 12 years of age, I sang in the school choir doing solo parts.  In that same year, I also sang in my uncle's choir, a wellknown Tel Aviv cantor named Benjamin Ungar (of blessed memory) on the High Holidays in "Gvurat Yisrael" Synagogue.

In 1970 I learned the High Holiday liturgical melodies (Nusach) according to the school of Rabbi Zalman Pollack, who is considered as an expert in Liturgical Style (Nusach).  This serves me until this day as a solid base for my liturgical style as a prayer leader and cantor.

My first High Holiday position was in 1969 in Tel Aviv.  Since then, I have served as cantor on Slichot night, Ma'ariv and Musaf for New Years and Kol Nidrei, Musaf and Ne'ila on Yom Kippur.

During the years 1987-1988, I studied in Cantorial School in Hechal Shlomo in Jerusalem under the direction of the composer and conductor, Eli Yaffe.  Among my teachers were also World Cantors Moshe Stern, and Naftali Hershtik.  I merited the diploma of Cantor Artist from the Chief Rabbi Israel Meir Lau (Honored teacher and master).

In all the years since 1969, I have led prayers in Tel Aviv, Ramat Gan, and  Kiryat Tiv'on.  This past High Holidays (2007), completed 20 years for me as the main cantor in the Central Synagogue "Templo Beth – El" in Sao Paolo, Brazil, accompanied by a choir of four male Israeli singers and conductor Alex Ashad.

During the year, I serve as cantor on Shabbat and Holidays, on a volunteer basis, in several synagogues, and of course, in my Beit El community where I live.

The last fifteen years, I am a member of "The Jerusalem Cantorial Choir".  The choir director (until a year ago) was Dr. Uri Aharon.  The present director is Benjamin Glickman, who also preceded Dr. Aharon.  I serve as soloist in several pieces, joined by other soloists as well.

The choir rehearses every week, and we perform in Israel and all over the world.  We have performed in concerts and in Shabbat services in which I serve as cantor for Shabbat.  Among the Cantors I performed with are Moshe Stern, Isaac Meir Helfgot, Ben Zion Miller, Yisrael Rand, Ya'akov Motzan, Yosef Melovni, Yehezkel Klang, and others.

In addition to the above activities, I have prepared and presented a radio program on Channel 7 (Arutz sheva) for seventeen years.  This included Cantorial Sketches for a 50-minute program each week.  In this program, I present prayer selections of the finest cantorial works, accompanied by explantions and highlights of the works.  One can listen to my program on the channel 7 Internet site:

I would be happy to send recordings as requested.

I am about to release a new disc with seventeen cantorial segments, all of which I perform along with "The Jerusalem Cantorial Choir" and The Beth El Synagogue Choir in Sao Paolo, Brazil.  There are also seven segments that were recorded in a professional sound studio.  I am including samples from the discs.
